About the Community Impact Council

The Community Impact Council is an advisory group dedicated to advancing Junior Achievement’s mission of inspiring and preparing young people to succeed.

This council promotes interest and generates support among Kansas City professionals through volunteer outreach, networking, and special events. Members collaborate to expand JA’s reach, increase volunteer participation, and support fundraising initiatives.

Community Impact Council Chairwoman

Kelsey Short is a Financial Advisor at Merrill, where she has been helping clients achieve their financial goals since July 2022. Originally from St. Louis, Kelsey attended the University of Kansas and moved to Kansas City after graduating.
 
Her passion for community engagement runs deep, with a long-standing involvement in Junior Achievement. From participating in JA in a Day as an elementary student to volunteering at summer camps and in classrooms, Kelsey has experienced firsthand the impact JA has on young people. Today, she continues to support JA’s mission by leveraging her professional expertise and network to inspire the next generation.
